Superglueing the edges of the inner part of a payphone receiver is a pretty good prank, but why would you then place the phone against your own ear?

Evidently there is nothing but dust (and some glue remnants) between the ears of these American teens, as they were 99% on their way to completing a fantastic soon-to-be viral prank. Having superglued the receiver handset, however, why did the unnamed 'star' of the clip below place the phone on himself?

Surely it would make more sense to pick up the handset, dial your mobile number and discover the payphone number? Once you've done that, place the handset as loosely as possible back where it was and wait till a passerby walks by.

Once they do that, call the newly-discovered payphone number, listen to it ring and wait for the passerby to pick it up, right?
