Didier Drogba was back to his old self in Chelsea’s magnificent Champions League victory over Napoli last night, but in more ways than one.
The Ivorian led the line magnificently in what was a stunning fightback against the Italian side at Stamford Bridge last night, scoring one goal and laying on the winner for Branislav Ivanovic in the first half of extra-time.
While plaudits were rightly flowing in for Drogba’s display, there was an equal amount of ridicule heading in his direction as a result of some of the shameful theatrics he indulged in to try and waste time before the end.
Worst of all was when he went down clutching his face as if taken out by a sniper in the crowd having felt the arm of Salvatore Aronica lightly brush his shoulder as he chased him down the pitch (see video above).
As if the dive itself wasn’t bad enough, while he was on the floor, Drogba, doing his best Sergio Busquets impression, opened one eye to ensure that the referee had been conned by his amateur dramatics.
Indeed so bad was his dive that Wayne Rooney, fond of an old tumble himself from time to time, felt compelled to go on Twitter to express his disbelief.

We haven't seen that sort of carry on from Drogba for a while, but then it's been a while since he's played well so maybe the two go hand in hand. In any case, bad and all as it was, it wasn't the worst thing Drogba has done during his time in England.
That honour must surely go to the farcical head to head with Jens Lehmann a few years back, which is always worth another look.
