FC Bleid are not having a good time of it. Bottom of the third tier of Belgian football, they have won just two games all season, so today’s news should be a fillip for the side.

The Manchester City captain strikes us as a fairly sound chap, who just happens to be one of the best defenders in the league. While most Premier League stars can think of ludicrous ways of spending their fortune, the 26 year-old has decided to buy the struggling the Belgian outfit to help turn around their fortunes.
Aside from basic philanthropy, Kompany is using this as a “social commitment towards the youngsters of Brussels” and has vowed to help transform the club.
From a new name to new team colours, no stone will be left unturned. Which is just as well, seeing as they are 16 points adrift of safety and with a goal difference of -44.

D3B table makes for grim reading
We don’t see Kompany becoming an Abramovich type character – FC Bleid would be more than happy for a trophy cabinet similar to the one at Stamford Bridge – but does want this to be the start of something new for the team.
“The club has to be carried by the fans, the present and future ones,” he said in a statement today. “And we don’t have time to wait. I’m giving a call to arms for everyone: let’s start thinking today of a name for the club.”
Just an all round good guy.
