The year's first blockbuster, John Carter, is set to hit Irish cinemas this Friday but we've got 10 minutes of footage from the opening of the Taylor Kitsch-starring epic.
From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo and WALL-E), John Carter is a sweeping action adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (known to the human race as Mars). In the clip above, however, we get our first glimpses of Carter's life back on Earth during the US Civil War.
Based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars, where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).
Not sure whether John Carter is for you, even after viewing the above clip? Then be sure to log into JOE on Friday morning for our official verdict.
