Wayne Rooney will learn tomorrow if he faces a suspension for his bizarre outbust in Manchester United’s victory over West Ham.
The Manchester United striker was in sparkling form for the Red Devils, garnering a hat-trick as his team came from two behind to win 4-2.
His celebration for his third goal was unusual to say the least - the striker turned angrily towards the Sky Sports Camera, shouting, “F*cking what? What? F*ck off,” in its direction.
He has since apologised "for any offence that may have been caused by my goal celebration, especially any parents or children that were watching."
The player continued, "Emotions were running high, and on reflection my heat-of-the-moment reaction was inappropriate. It was not aimed at anyone in particular."
The FA’s director of football development, Sir Trevor Brooking, has confirmed that the incident will be looked at and examined by the FA on Monday.
“It was a surprise, after scoring a hat-trick, to react that way,” Brooking said. “It is something we will have to look at.”
The FA’s behaviour rule book states that “A participant shall at all times act in the best interests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour.”
Rooney could face a two-match suspension, which would see him miss Saturday’s home match with Fulham, and their FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City.
