Dublin legend Ciaran Whelan believes that Michael Murphy shouldn’t even have got a yellow card for the offence that got him sent off against Cavan at the weekend.
The decision to give dismiss the Donegal captain caused bemusement around Breffni Park, not least amongst Jim McGuinness and his management team, who couldn’t quite get their head around what was a ludicrous decision from referee Marty Duffy.
Whelan believes that a second look at the incident, as well as Murphy’s disciplinary record to date, should save him from suspension for the Ulster semi-final against Tyrone when the CCCC gather to discuss the matter this evening.
Check out what Whelan had to say on the matter and the sending off of Cavan’s Ray Cullivan in the video above.
