If you were at the final interview stage of a dream job opportunity, would you hand over your Facebook login details if asked? It's happening in the US and Facebook aren't happy.
As reports in the US continue to circulate that nosey employers have begun to ask job seekers for their username and password for the process of vetting potential employees, the social networking giant has spoken officially on the matter for the first time.
“As a user, you shouldn’t be forced to share your private information and communications just to get a job,” said Facebook's chief privacy officer Erin Egan on an official blog post yesterday.
“And as the friend of a user, you shouldn’t have to worry that your private information or communications will be revealed to someone you don’t know and didn’t intend to share with just because that user is looking for a job,” she added.
A day prior to the blog post, US Senator Richard Blumenthal said that such requests from employers are an "unreasonable invasion of privacy" and should be forbidden in the business world.
What say you, JOE readers? Would you immediately walk out a job interview if the question was posed or if you were desperately for the job in question, would you hand over details if prompted? Let us know in the comments section below.
