Eric Lalor

Funny times from funny minds.

Our new fortnightly feature gives you a heads up on some of the best live comedy gigs over the next two weeks.

Who: Ardal O’Hanlon
Where: September 23rd
When: Mandela Hall, Belfast

Ardal O’Hanlon is known the world over for his portrayal of the legendary Father Dougal McGuire from Fr Ted. Ardal, however, is also a brilliant stand-up comedian and a prolific joke-writer.

Catch him live in Belfast this Wednesday night at the wonderful Mandela Hall.

Who: The Mess Around
Where: September 25th
When: Workman’s Club, Dublin

Expect weird characters and general anarchy, hosted by comedians Giles Brody (Irish Pictorial Weekly contributor) and Colin Chadwick (BBC New Comedy Award Finalist).

They will be ably assisted by The Mess Around Gang (Alison Spittle, Conor O’Toole and Simon Mulholland) and a cast of characters that include a right-wing M & M, a reformed Babadook and aspiring stand-up Pierce Brosnan, complete with a bucket on his head.

Seriously, what’s not to love?

Who: Benny Boot
Where: September 24th-26th
When: Laughter Lounge, Dublin

Hailed by critics and comics alike as one of the best and most original joke writers in the UK, Australian comedian Benny Boot’s unique style and unconventional comedic delivery have proved irresistible in the last few years.

He is accompanied on the night by the brilliant Chris Kent so this should be a fantastic few nights in the Laughter Lounge.
