It looks like U2 will be playing two very different shows in the same city on their upcoming tour

We think this is a really good idea...

We think this is a really good idea…

A few weeks ago, JOE brought you the news that U2 were considering performing the songs from their latest album Songs of Innocence in much smaller venues than their last U2 360 Tour.

No matter how small or intimate the venue, we’re fairly certain that the lads will still sell out though.

Bassist Adam Clayton has revealed further details of the bands touring plans in an interview with Rolling Stone where he said that the band plan on playing two gigs in each city they visit, one acoustic and one “loud and explosive.”

“One night would be a kind of loud, explosive rock’n’roll kind of event and then the other night’s show take the acoustic arrangements of some of the songs, and kind of present those songs in a much more intimate way. But we don’t really know how that’s going to sound and look.”

JOE has seen U2 perform countless times over the years and this move seems like a really interesting one from Bono and co because their back catalogue of songs would definitely cater to both styles of live show.

All we ask is that they play Out of Control and The Fly on the heavier nights while Kite and Staring at the Sun are a must for the acoustic performances.

Come on Bono, sort it out.
