Jonny Sexton made his first appearance in Racing Metro colours and while he was happy after the match, the outhalf also looked a little relieved.
Leinster fans will struggle to get used to seeing the number 10 in the blue and white of Racing though few will be surprised that he turned in an impressive first outing as the French side overcame Harlequins 40 – 28 in a pre-season friendly in Geneva yesterday.
His fine cross-field kick into the Harlequins’ 22 in the fourth minute stretched the defence and Alex Dumoulin carried in the opening score and he converted both tries before coming off at half-time. While he was clearly pleased in the post-match interview to get the first game under his belt, he appeared happy to escape the unusual initiation at Racing.
Ronan O’Gara and Jonny Sexton in new colours
While many teams expect new signings to stand up in front of the squad to sing a song, the French outfit seem to do things a little differently and eating a goldfish seems to be the general course of action.
Here Jonny explains how he got away with it, while clearly trying to hold in the laughter.

Maybe once his French gets to the level of his Metro coach Ronan O’Gara he will be able to give the answers back in the local language.
