Greatest Golden moments from 2014 Golden Globes

Drunks, disses and devastatingly gorgeous divas...

JOE

The talented, the rich, the beautiful… and the ugly-people-who-were-luckily-born-to-successful-actors were all out in force last night at the star-studded Golden Globes 2014 ceremony, the first major event of Hollywood’s award season.

Rewarding what is (supposedly) the best that TV and film had to offer from the past year, the Golden Globes celebrate the filmmaking skills of some of the finest talents working in the industry today.

That’s not all they do though…

Annual ceremonies like the Double Gs (reminds us of a girl we once knew) also provide audiences with a number of great and golden comedy moments and so, here at JOE, we’ve picked some of our hilarious highlights from this year’s ceremony.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Opening Monologue (which is probably technically a dialogue)

We’re big fans of Ricky Gervais here at JOE and we were especially happy when he was given the opportunity to be at his most mean to a jam-packed room full of A-list stars at the Golden Globes in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

However, we’re even bigger fans of the fantastically funny females Fey and Poehler and, after absolutely nailing the gig at their first attempt last year, the two were back and in flying form as they hilariously hosted for the second year running.

Here’s the ceremony’s opening in all of its glory:

Reason to love Jennifer Lawrence Number 374

Jennifer Lawrence’s tyrannical quest for world domination continued as she not only took home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting actress for her impressive performance in American Hustle, but she also expertly photo-bombed her beautiful buddy Taylor ‘I’m never bitter, I swear’ Swift as the singer was being interviewed on the red carpet.

Thank you Jennifer for once again reminding the world why you’d be a great gal to grab a drink with. And marry. And live with forever. Whilst making lots and lots of beautiful sex-love together.

A (supposedly) drunk Emma Thompson presenting the award for Best Screenplay

After wowing cinema-goers with her brilliant performance as P.L. Travers in the excellent Saving Mr Banks (we didn’t cry, we swear), Emma Thompson was entertaining once more as she drunkenly presented the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay to Spike Jonze for his new, easily-categorised sci-fi-rom-com-drama film, Her… or so we think.

It was possibly another award-winning turn from the actress who appeared to be slightly tired and emotional, as she hilariously held her expensive lady shoes in one hand and a giant Martini in the other.

Excellent stuff from the lovely living legend:

Bono kisses Poehler and disses Diddy

Bono was at the Golden Globes because he is, of course, omnipotent and in all places at all times. He certainly seemed to be enjoying himself as he pepped co-host Amy Poehler ahead of her win for her role as Leslie Knope in Parks And Rec.

He wasn’t enjoying himself quite as much, however, when Diddy dove in for a similar smooch as the U2 frontman picked up the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for ‘Ordinary Love’ (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom).

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie. Simple as that really. Margot Robbie was there. Did you see Margot Robbie? Can you hear us talking about Margot Robbie? Margot Robbie. As completely non-insane fans of Neighbours here at JOE, it’s great to see Margot Robbie… getting the credit she’s been long overdue.

Margot Robbie.
