Video: This genius IKEA Halloween ad perfectly parodies horror classic The Shining

As if shopping wasn't scary enough already...

As if shopping wasn’t scary enough already…

After recently wowing us with their inspired IKEA bookbook ad, the super Swedish shop is at it again with this brilliant Halloween homage to Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror classic, The Shinning The Shining.

The camera follows a young boy in dungarees – let’s call him Danny, shall we? – as makes his way around a darkened IKEA store on his tricycle, passing flickering lamps, swinging lights and peculiar peeking faces, until he’s eventually stopped dead by a pair of creepy, Grady twin lookalikes who, thankfully, just happen to be his parents.

“Come pay with us Danny, come pay with us.” Genius.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Johnny the perfect parody in all of its not-so-gory glory…

It’s a great parody alright, but it’s not the only one…
