“He was an amiable, genial gentleman”.
Ryan Tubridy and Gay Byrne both paid tribute to the late Terry Wogan this morning on the Dave Fanning Show on RTÉ 2FM.
In a excellent interview, Ryan Tubridy tells a heart-warming story about having to review Terry Wogan’s book.
“I reviewed a book that he wrote,” Tubridy said, “a tiny little series of short stories for the Irish Times.
“I mentioned in the review that I’d been to see his show as a kid, and that the book was all about Limerick where he’s from, it was all about life as a banker and it was really Irish.
“I said in the review that Terry Wogan is a national treasure in the UK and yet he seems to be in a very wistful frame of mind, he’s writing about the things he clearly remembers best, possibly loves best and that is home.”
Such a lovely thing to hear about a man that spent most of his adult years outside of the country.
