Subway is making a very welcome change to its sandwiches following lawsuit settlement

JOE

When is a footlong not a footlong? When it’s a sandwich from Subway.

That joke will soon not just be laboured and unfunny, but also inaccurate, as the sandwich chain will increase the size of its trademark product following false advertising claims.

A class action lawsuit had been launched after one diner found their footlong sandwich to be just 11 inches long, meaning Subway now need to ensure their footlongs are 12 inches long and their 6″ subs no fewer than six inches from end to end.

Business Insider report that the chain will need to carry out compliance checks with all franchise owners to make sure the instructions are being followed.

And the court case is no laughing matter for Subway, who were ordered to pay out $520,000 (£372,604) in legal fees and $500 (£358) in damages to each of the 10 people to join the class action suit.
