As world record attempts go, you’re not going to find many more Irish than this.
No matter how obscure you might think an achievement is, chances are there’s already been a world record set for it and that it belongs, on record, as part of the Guinness World Records.
Until writing this very article, for example, we had no idea that there’s a world record for the longest journey reversing a tractor and trailer.
Yes, it exists.
Although we were unaware of its existence, it came as no surprise whatsoever to learn that the record was set by an Irishman called Eamonn Hickson, who reversed a tractor and trailer for 17.36 kilometres (10.79 miles) in Annascaul in Kerry, the home of Tom Crean, on August 2, 2014.

That might be all about to change this Wednesday, however, when a new attempt to break that record takes place on the N3 in Cavan, when a tractor and trailer will travel backwards from Lisgrey House in Virginia to Poles, just outside Cavan Town, a distance of approximately 21km.
The record attempt will be filmed by RTÉ’s Big Week on the Farm and will take place from 10am to 1pm on the day, with the AA warning of delays on the route on Wednesday morning and afternoon as a result.
Just another average Wednesday in Cavan, eh?
