Oh dear, oh dear…
It’s been an eventful day in the world of politics. This morning everything looked promising as Ireland prepared itself for a “promising statement” from Leo Varadkar.
Then, the wheels fell off and all hell broke loose.
The deal that appeared to have been agreed this morning was no longer a runner in the afternoon, and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar took to a press conference to announce his surprise and disappointment at the turn of events.
Varadkar has suggested that a deal had been agreed with the UK over the Irish border this morning but that the UK then backtracked on the agreement.
To cap off what has been a frustrating day for negotiations, you get an insight into the knowledge of Irish politics from British MP Bernard Jenkin speaking on Sky News.
