Some people just cave under pressure.
We’ve all come up with a few genuinely bad excuses when asked to explain our bad behaviour.
“The money was only resting in my account”, “I thought the cheat notes in my pocket were a pack of tissues”, “The dog ate my homework” etc. We’re all guilty of them.
There are however, some so embarrassingly weak that they actually deserve a strange kind of credit.
May we present one such example, which was given to members of the Merseyside Police Roads Team on 23 January.
Stopping a driver for using a mobile phone and not wearing a seatbelt while driving, when police asked for an explanation, the culprit said:
“I was just putting a laughing emoji to my girlfriend.”

This is the bit where you put your head in your hands and marvel at the stupidity of humankind.
Deary me.
