If you’re in this part of Dublin today and hear a lot of beeping horns, there’s a very romantic reason

One Billboard Outside Des Kelly Interiors, Glasnevin.

There’s been a strange rom-com unfolding over a Glasnevin furniture and interiors store, which you might have noticed if you travel in to work from the North side of Dublin every morning.

A banner has been erected above Des Kelly Interiors, which has a modest request of all motorists, specifically that they “honk for a horney [sic] hunk” who is trying to woo a woman.

According to the banner, “the cute girl” in question works down the road and she’s only going to go out with the person who took out the banner on one condition.

He needs to get 500 motorists to beep their horns.

Some people like flowers or a good meal out.

Not this woman though. She prefers the sound of traffic. The horns give her the… Well, just take a look for yourself.

This isn’t the first time that a suggestive banner has appeared outside Des Kelly Interiors. Similarly around Valentines Day back in 2012, something similar was posted, which said:

“To the girl in the blue mini I changed your tyre last week but I was too shy to ask for your number please call me”, followed by a phone number.

Unfortunately when contacted, the phone number was no longer active. So whether or not this romantic gesture got the first girl will remain a mystery. Whatever the case, they’re back on the market again, so if you pass through Glasnevin, be sure to beep.

(P.S. If you’re convinced this is just a marketing gesture, why must you be so cynical? WHY?)
