You can still catch it online.
“You’re only given a little spark of madness, and if you lose that, you’re nothin’. From me to you, don’t ever lose that because it keeps you alive.”
And with that encapsulating sentence, HBO’s wonderful documentary, Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind, ended as audiences were given a timely reminder about a truly gifted, hilarious and much-missed entertainer.
It’s almost four years since the Oscar-winning actor passed away and to the immense credit of director Marina Zenovich, the documentary was far from a hagiography of Williams’ funniest moments – although there are thousands of them.
As stated previously, the feature perfectly balanced Williams’ unique gift for making people laugh with those moments of sadness in his own life as he battled various addictions and mental illnesses.
Even during his lowest points, Williams still worked tirelessly to help others and he frequently did what he does best, making people laugh. This being said, it’s apparent that some of his funniest one-liners and gags came from an immense source of pain and personal sadness.
Unflinching, powerful and absolutely hilarious, Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind is a fitting tribute to one of the finest performers in recent memory and after it aired last night on Sky Atlantic, it’s clear that these people agree.
If you missed it, it’s still available to watch online for Sky customers.
It’s also repeated on Sky Atlantic on Tuesday at 22:10.
