Five times Mark Wahlberg was a total action badass

It was hard to narrow it down to five.

There aren’t many actors in Hollywood as reliable as Mark Wahlberg. Whatever movie he’s in, people know to expect some solid acting alongside at least a handful of scenes where he looks like a total badass.

He’s come a long way since Marky Mark…

From taking out bad guys to sliding across boardroom tables, here is our list of five times Mark Wahlberg was a total action badass.

The Other Guys (2010)

No, this scene doesn’t show the most practical way to arrest Alan Partridge in a boardroom full of gun-toting criminals. Mark Wahlberg’s slide across the table didn’t really do anything to help that cause, but by god did he look like a badass in the process.

As Will Ferrell would say, this scene gives us that “tingly feeling in our ba”… just watch the scene.

Shooter (2007)

The fact that Wahlberg’s character is a sniper called Swagger is reason enough to watch this movie. We’re left wondering though why people keep picking fights with him. He can snipe your arm off from the top of a mountain, so is it worth the risk?

There is no better man to provide cover fire in a tense hostage situation.

Lone Survivor (2013)

Does anything ever faze Mark Wahlberg? Even after getting hit in a vicious gunfight and suffering even more injuries after jumping off a cliff, he still manages to stay focused.

The lesson to be learned here is that you shouldn’t push Mark into a corner. He won’t even flinch.

*MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT FOR THIS NEXT ONE!*

The Departed (2006)

Seriously, skip this one over if you haven’t seen it, but then again you’d have a lot more pressing things to do if that was the case. The Departed is one of the best films of the past 25 years and if you haven’t seen it, go and watch it right now and THEN come back to see how much of a badass Mark Wahlberg is.

The exact reason why Wahlberg’s Dignam killed off Matt Damon’s Sullivan is somewhat left for interpretation. We like to think of it as a statement from Mark. There’s been a lot of talk of the two actors being very similar in appearance and style. That’s bull though, do you really think Mark Wahlberg’s last words would ever be “OK”?

Mile 22 (2018)

And finally, we have Mark’s upcoming action-packed movie Mile 22, which is in Irish cinemas now. When the goal is to “complete the mission at any cost,” you send in Mark Wahlberg.

There is the classic Wahlberg action we’ve come to expect, but based on what we’ve seen so far we might write a similar list about Indonesian tough guy Iko Uwais (The Raid) in the future. The ball’s in your court now Mark, time to defend your throne as Hollywood’s action badass.

Wahlberg’s latest outing, Mile 22, is packed full of brutal and relentless action from start to finish. With a stellar cast including Ronda Rousey and John Malkovich, the story follows CIA operative James Silva (Wahlberg) and his mission to transport a mysterious asset (Iko Uwais) 22 miles to an airfield while the enemy closes in from all sides.
