Oscars 2019

An incredible achievement!

It’s always amazing when an Irish movie or an Irish person picks up an Academy Award.

We all can’t help but feel a sense of pride when someone from this small island is up for one of the best awards that can be won in the movie business.

And although we can’t announce that we’ve won another one just yet, we are one step closer.

Late Afternoon, an Irish animation film has just made Oscars’ shortlist in the ‘Animated Short Film’ category.

The movie’s official Twitter account tweeted to announce how chuffed they were with the news:

The movie was directed by Louise Bagnall, and is now one of 10 in the shortlisted category.

You can watch the trailer for Late Afternoon here:

‘Late Afternoon’ follows the story of Emily, who has her afternoon tea and lets her mind wander back into the past. She journeys through her memories, reliving moments from her life. What she discovers there will challenge her in unexpected ways.

More information about the movie can be found on their official website here.

As well as this, The Favourite, an Irish-produced movie also picked up a number of nominations.

Fair play to all involved.
