Met Éireann predicting incredibly mild weekend ahead with temperatures to get as high as 15C

Weather this weekend

Don’t go breaking out the suncream. But maybe a lighter coat?

Anyone else thinking that we might have gotten away with it?

That this winter came and went and it was just kind of… okay? Sure, it got cold – very cold – on some nights, but compared to 2018’s extremes, 2019 is already picking up nicely.

Now, listen, we know that this might have long-term repercussions (oh, hi Global Warming!), plus it actually wasn’t until March of last year that we got the brunt of the snow and the heavy storms, but… we’re trying to keep optimistic here.

Met Éireann has released its forecast for the upcoming weekend, and it looks like we will be experiencing higher temperatures than Athens or Barcelona.

Friday will see temperatures reach as high as 12 to 15 degrees, with just a small bit of rain expected over the west and north of the country.

Saturday will get highs of 12 degrees, with some drizzle during the day for the west and north of the country that is expected to become a more persistent rain overnight.

And then Sunday will see the temperatures settle again around 12 degrees, with the rain to spread over the majority of the country across the day, before clearing up for a slightly cooler but mostly drier Monday.

So there you have it. A lovely-sounding February weekend. Enjoy it while you can!
