It’s movie time.
Or, rather, it’s movie time when the below collection kick off individually at their designated times on their respective channels.
That’s how the whole ‘Movies on TV’ game works, guys.
With that in mind, let’s see what you can dive into on this balmy Sunday 7 July…
Jurassic Park – ITV2 – 6.25pm
The original and by far the best.
Everest – Film 4 – 6.40pm
Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin are among the climbers who embark on an ill-fated attempt to scale Mount Everest in this real-life adaptation.
The World is Not Enough – RTÉ 2 – 7.05pm
But it is such a perfect place to start for Pierce Brosnan in his penultimate outing as James Bond.
Jerry Maguire – Universal TV – 9pm
A good argument for the best Tom Cruise performance of all time as he perfectly inhabits a smarmy sports agent who has it all until everything crashes around him and he cops on to what really matters.
Air Force One – SyFy – 9pm
President Harrison Ford would kindly like you to get off his plane, thank you very much.
Full Metal Jacket – TCM – 9pm
Stanley Kubrick’s iconic treatise on the horror and brutal futility of war.
The Expendables 2 – Virgin Media One – 9pm
Comfortably the best of these featuring a zany villainous turn from a clearly enjoying himself Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Superbad – Comedy Central – 9pm
Jonah Hill and Michael Cera mix laughs with teenage angst.
Rush Hour 2 – ITV4 – 10.50pm
Enjoyable.
The Imitation Game – Channel 4 – 11pm
Benedict Cumberbatch takes on the role of Alan Turing; the World War II codebreaker demonised for his sexuality who would not be recognised as a hero until many years after his tragic death.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
