Gardaí based in Pearse Street Garda Station yesterday arrested several rickshaw drivers and charged them with drug-related offences.
An Garda Síochána confirmed the operation on Twitter this morning, writing: “Last night, Pearse St Gardaí conducted a joint operation with the Taxi Regulator targeting unlicensed rickshaws operating in Dublin City.”
The operation resulted in 10 rickshaws being seized by Gardaí, as well as eight rickshaw drivers being charged with drug-related offences. The tweet also specified €3,000 worth of drugs were seized.

It was estimated in late 2018 that there are at least 1,000 rickshaws operating in Dublin.
