Itinerary released for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to Ireland

Prince William Kate Middleton Ireland visit

The couple will be visiting this week and a number of traffic restrictions will be in place of a result.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Ireland from Tuesday 3 – Thursday 5 March, and Gardaí have released the official itinerary so that the public can make travel adjustments if needs be.

On 3 March, the visit will be concentrated in the Dublin City Centre including Aras an Uachtarain, the Garden of Remembrance, Government Buildings and the Guinness Store House.

On 4 March, the visit will include locations in Temple Bar, Prosperous in Kildare, Grange in Meath and Howth in Dublin.

On 5 March, the visit will include Galway city centre and a local GAA club.

Gardaí have said that traffic restrictions for the visit will be kept to the minimum required.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will arrive and depart at Dublin Airport. Normal operations will continue at Dublin Airport at all times.

The public can expect temporary rolling road closures to facilitate security escorts over the course of the three days, in the locations above.

Any impact on the public will be localised and minimal.

On Tuesday between 2pm – 4pm, there will be localised traffic restrictions in place in the vicinity of the Garden of Remembrance including North Frederick Street and Parnell Square North. Traffic will be diverted away from Parnell Square.

From 3pm – 5pm, there will be localised traffic restrictions in place in the vicinity of Government Buildings including Merrion Street, Merrion Square West and Merrion Square South.

Traffic will be diverted from St Stephens Green South at the Leeson Street junction onto Earlsfort Terrace and St Stephens Green East.

From 6pm – 9pm, Market Street South and Bellevue, Dublin 8 will be closed to all traffic. Pedestrian access to the Guinness Storehouse will be restricted to invited and vetted persons only.

On Wednesday, between 6am – 11am Essex Street East, Dublin 2 will be closed to all traffic (vehicles and pedestrians).

The royal visit will have limited impact in Kildare. There will be temporary restrictions in place in Prosperous village from 11.30am – 12.15pm, while local Gardaí will have diversion routes in place.

From 8am – 5pm, Thormanby Road in Howth will have restricted access. From 3pm – 5pm, Carrickbrack Road in Howth will have restricted access.

On Thursday, the following restrictions will apply in Galway:

In the city centre, from 4am – 1pm no vehicles will be permitted access to William Street, Shop Street, Abbeygate Street, High Street and Mainguard Street.

From 9am – 1pm, no vehicles will be permitted access to Flood Street, Cross Street, Middle Street and St Augustine Street. Parking at this location will also be restricted.

From 9am – 1pm, no vehicles will be permitted access to Bridge Street and Lombard Street however school traffic accessing St Patrick’s School will be accommodated. Parking at this location will also be restricted.

From 9am – 1pm, pedestrian access to Shop Street, High Street and Mainguard Street will be restricted, pedestrian diversions will be in place. Members of the public wishing to access these streets during the above times will be subject to screening by Gardaí on duty.

On the Doctor Mannix Road in Salthill from 9am – 2pm, traffic restrictions will be in place. Members of the public wishing to access the Doctor Mannix Road during the times indicated will be subject to screening by Gardaí on duty.
