Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for four counties along the west of Ireland.
The warning, which comes into effect at 9pm on Monday night, covers Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal.
Met Éireann said southwesterly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km/h, possibly higher in exposed coastal fringes.
It also warned there will be a risk of coastal flooding around high tide where winds are onshore.
The warning remains in effect until 8am on Tuesday morning.
Overnight will see a band of showery rain will extend across the country from the southwest and will be followed by blustery and perhaps thundery showers. However, this will mainly affect the western half of the country.
Tuesday will begin with a mix of cloud and bright spells with scattered blustery showers. Some of the showers throughout the day will be heavy and there will be a risk of thundery downpours in some areas.
