Friday last week was a record day for Ireland’s vaccine rollout with 30,503 doses administered, bettering the record of 27,915 set the day before.
The HSE said it expects it will have administered one million doses of vaccines by some point this week.
Meanwhile, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has confirmed the government is developing a “digital green certificate vaccine pass” – which had previously been announced by the EU – for those who have been fully inoculated.
The aim is to increase the freedoms of those who have been fully vaccinated with Varadkar saying that all over 70s will be fully vaccinated by the middle of May and most adults will have received at least one dose.
On Monday, a further 320 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Ireland while no further deaths were reported.
There are currently 261 patients in hospital with Covid-19 with 58 patients in ICU.
