Daniel Simion Toader, a Romanian national, appeared before Dublin District Court

A 47 year-old man appeared in court last night charged with the murder of his partner.

48-year-old Loredana Morosanu's body was found in Finglas in Dublin on Monday morning, in the same apartment block that Jennifer Poole was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in 2021.

Daniel Simion Toader, a Romanian national, appeared before Dublin District Court, charged with the murder at an apartment at Melville Terrace.

Emergency services were called to the house at 4.30am on Monday and found Ms Morosanu, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

She had worked in Hickeys Pharmacy, and had lived in Ireland for several years.

He spoke only to a court-appointed interpreter and had no legal representation in court due to a strike over criminal law reforms.

Detective Sergeant Niall Murray gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution to the court.

He told the court that the accused was arrested and charged yesterday evening at Finglas Garda Station and he made no reply to the charge.

Judge Máire Connelly remanded him in custody to appear again via video link at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday, 3rd November.

Loredana Morosanu is the 13th woman in Ireland to die violently this year.
