39 more people have died from Covid-19 and 493 new cases confirmed in Ireland

Very sad news.

39 more people have died in the Republic of Ireland from Covid-19.

It brings the total number of dead in the country from the Covid-19 outbreak to 610.

37 of those who died were located in the east of the country while two were in the west.

The Department of Health also confirmed there are 493 new cases in Ireland.

445 of these were confirmed in Irish labs while 48 were confirmed in German labs.

The total number of cases in Ireland now stands at 15,251.

So far, 2,223 cases have been hospitalised with 303 of these being admitted to intensive care units.

3,788 of the cases are associated with healthcare workers.

On Saturday, Ireland reported 41 more deaths from Covid-19 along with 778 new cases.

On Friday night, Chief Medical Officer with the Department of Health Tony Holohan said Ireland had managed to flatten the curve of the Covid-19 outbreak and as a result of the restrictions combined with the work of the public, had lowered the reproductive number of the virus to below one.
