Who better to get you moving during lockdown than 2017 Footballer of the Year and Mayo GAA legend, Andy Moran?
With everyone largely confined to their homes, keeping fit and active has been a challenge during the Covid-19 emergency.
Any bit of exercise you can manage is important to keep your physical and mental health ticking over, which is why a lot of people have taken to doing home workouts alongside a walk or a run within a two-kilometre radius of their homes.
In that spirit, we couldn’t think of anyone better to ask to put together a home workout for the JOE audience than 2017 Footballer of the Year and Mayo GAA legend, Andy Moran.
Andy is also the owner of The Movement gyms, operating gyms in Castlebar and Claremorris as well as running the impressive leisure complex at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar in coordination with Mayo County Council.
Since 16 March, Andy and his colleagues at The Movement have been posting a wide variety of workout videos on their social channels on a daily basis to help their members and the wider public stay active during lockdown and to show that we can all keep moving while staying at home. You can check them out on The Movement’s Facebook page right here.
Andy was good enough to put together a custom workout for the JOE audience that clocks in at just over 20 minutes, is suitable for all fitness levels and consists of the following exercises:
Warm-Up (approximately three minutes)
Three sets of seven exercises:
-
Push-Ups
-
Mountain Climbers
-
Bear Crawls
-
Downward Dog
-
Lunge Hold
-
High Knee Run
-
Side to Side
You can check it out and do it along with Andy in the video above.
All you need is a bit of space, but make sure to keep a towel and some water handy as you’ll likely work up quite a sweat.
Enjoy!
