So apparently, edible whiskey ‘tide pods’ are now a thing

Whiskey pods

Why, just why?

The Glenlivet is one of the best-selling scotch distilleries in the world, but apparently crafting popular single malts wasn’t enough for them.

The Glenlivet’s new “Capsule Collection” gives Scotch whisky lovers the opportunity to enjoy their drink without the glass with small edible pods filled with booze.

Whisky lovers can simply pop one of these pods in their mouths and bite down to release the liquid. They come in three flavors: citrus, wood and spice.

It was crafted by legendary cocktail connoisseur Alex Kratena, of the London bar Tayēr.

“The Glenlivet has released an original whiskey drinking experience,” states a promotional video. “A collection of edible cocktail capsules made from seaweed, meaning no need for a glass, ice, or a cocktail stirrer.”

The whisky-filled capsules are only available as an “amuse-bouche” at Tayer + Elementary bar during the London Cocktail Week, which runs through 13 October.

There’s no word yet if The Glenlivet is planning to make the cocktail capsules a permanent fixture.
