The world’s biggest outdoor adventure race

Running, hiking, kayaking and cycling your way through the gorgeous mountains and lakes of County Kerry, Quest Killarney is amongst the most challenging and exciting outdoor events on these shores. Anyone who manages to cross the finish line will have earned the right to brag about their athletic accomplishments for the next 10 years.

Even if the 83km Expert route is beyond your abilities, there are four other options including the 27km Challenge, a 55km Sport route, a 73km Pro route or the 65km Dual route(no kayak stage). There were around 2,000 people involved in the event last year, and this year’s event on Saturday, 6 October looks set to be just as popular.

You have plenty of time to get yourself into shape before the race, so you’d be wise to test yourself on some rough terrain in the weeks leading up to it. Ireland in October isn’t always for the faint-hearted, but the views alone along the Gap of Dunloe and Muckross Lake make it all worthwhile.

It isn’t all about the race though, with the after-parties giving you the chance to enjoy some well-earned fun with your fellow fitness enthusiasts. Killarney is good craic at the best of times, but we’d imagine the town will be popping with race-goers on the night.
