Forget the hair of the dog, Sprite is the best hangover cure according to scientists

Does this mean we’ll be abandoning the hair of the dog method in future? No, no it doesn’t.

Does this mean we’ll be abandoning the hair of the dog method in future? No, no it doesn’t.

For generations, scientists of the professional and very, very amateur variety have endeavoured to come up with the best way of curing a hangover and so far, it must be said, have failed pretty miserably to do so.

A team of Chinese scientists haven’t come an awful lot closer to discovering a perfect hangover cure, but they have discovered that Sprite is the best of just short of 60 drinks for relieving the God-awful miserableness a lot of us feel of a Sunday morning, or at least it helps us get over it a lot faster than other alternatives.

According to Chemistry World, the scientists found that drinks such as herbal tea could increase the length of a hangover, while Sprite was the most effective out of 57 drinks in speeding up the process of the harmful effects of consuming a rake of pints (and a curry cheese chips and smokey bacon burger) exiting our bodies.

Commenting on the study Edzard Ernst, a medicinal science expert from the University of Exeter, said that the results were interesting but was keen to stress that a lot more research was required to confirm the findings of the study.

Back to the hair of the dog it is again so.
