Get fit, look fit: It’s all about the hoodies

Only an Irish summer would require you to wrap up. Do it in style.

Only an Irish summer would require you to wrap up. Do it in style.

The summer might be fast approaching but because we live in Ireland and not Barbados, an extra layer of clothing wouldn’t go amiss.

At this time of year, we’ve all been guilty of going out for a run and catching an early cold so we’re here to help you out on that front.

Hoodies are not only essential for when you’re exercising but they’re also a great item of clothing to wear around the house, especially when you come home from a run or when you just fancy relaxing on the couch.

Here are some that caught our eye.

Nike Golf AW77 Hoodie (€95)

If it’s good enough for Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods then we’re definitely on board with Nike’s new range of golfing attire.

The good news, though, is that you don’t have to be a multi-major winner to look good in this hoodie.

We’re really liking the scuba neck on this one which should provide some extra insulation for your neck and block out any biting wind on your back.

The zip pocket on the sleeve is also a very cool feature if you need to store an MP3 player or your keys.

North Face Open Gate Hoodie (€65)

If you haven’t got an item of clothing that’s made by The North Face in your sporting wardrobe then you’re missing out because they consistently make gear that’s durable and reliable for all conditions.

The Open Gate FZ Hood Light is one of their cheaper options but we really like the simple, light and understated look of this one.

This design comes in grey, blue and dark green so there are a lot of choices for you hoodie enthusiasts.

This one wouldn’t look out of place on the running track or on a casual night out.

Under Armour UA Storm Forest Hoodie (€90)

The thing we love about this design is that the water rolls right off the material, which could be very handy for those unpredictable Irish summer conditions.

It’s also quite light which is what every runner wants to hear and it provides an ultra-soft heat-trapping interior.

The hood, cuffs and neckline are all elasticated which means the fabric doesn’t hang off you either.

Puma Lightweight Pull-Over Hoodie (€30)

PUMA

We love the design on this one, especially the detailed stitching which is top-notch, but it also feels incredibly lightweight.

There’s nothing worse than a baggy hoodie that weighs you down and that shouldn’t be an issue here.

Unlike other hoodies on the list, this effort from Puma contains a kangaroo pocket, so if you’re looking for a place to keep your bottle of water then look no further.
