Get Fit, Look Fit: Winter is coming, so wrap up in these warm performance jackets

Don’t get caught cold

Conor Heneghan

Don’t get caught cold.

It’s still the first week of September, but trust us, before you know it, the evenings will have drawn in, the temperature will have dropped and all the ads on TV will be talking about Christmas.

We didn’t have much of a summer anyway, but you’ll soon become aware of the need to get some layers on when you’re out for a run of an evening.

No better place to start than with a specialised jacket to keep the heat in. Here are a few that caught our eye.

Men’s UA Storm Armour® Fleece Marauder Jacket – €65

pt1

Starting off nice and simple, this Under Armour number is light, it’s warm and it has a couple of front pockets to store your phone or your valuables while you’re out for a jog.

adidas Supernova Storm Jacket – €75

pt2

Incredibly sleek-looking, this zip jacket is light enough that it won’t weigh you down while you’re working out, but the Climastorm technology will keep you warm and dry.

Puma Evolution Full Zip Hoodie – €80

pt4

This hoodie is nice enough looking that it’s perfect for casual wear and it’s understandable if you’d be reluctant to work up a sweat in it.

It’s perfect for a jog on a cool evening though; you can even pull over the hood to go full Rocky if you wish.

Nike Tech Fleece AW77 – €90

pt3

Part of Nike’s new Tech Fleece range, it claims to provide optimum warmth without compromising the ultra-lightweight feel.

It looks great too, although admittedly, it is a little on the expensive side.

The North Face Men’s Isoventus Jacket – €120

pt5

Speaking of the expensive side, this jacket from The North Face will set you back a few quid, but with their reputation, you’ll know you’re getting a quality product.

It’s lightweight, water-resistant, will ensure you’re spotted in the dark and is described as being ideal for cool autumn runs.
