Good-looking people are happier, but only if they do this one thing

Alan Loughnane

“I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking.”

Good-looking people tend to be happier people, but this is only if they have been thinking about how attractive they are.

A new study published in Journal of Happiness Studies investigated the link between how happy people are and how attractive they believe themselves to be.

97 people were given questionnaires which were used t0 measure their “life satisfaction” and “body satisfaction”… because we all know, people answer questionnaires honestly and truthfully at all times.

The questions were then randomised with one half of the subjects answering the “life satisfaction” questions first and the other answering the “body satisfactions” questions first.

The results were interesting and showed that good-looking people tended to be happier than the less attractive, but only if they’d answered the “body satisfaction” questions first.

The researchers determined that when people consider one aspect of their lives, that aspect assumes greater significance at that particular moment which led to the results above.

Of course this is all subjective, sometimes beauty can be in the eye of the beholder with one person’s George Clooney being another person’s Hephaestus.
