Takes 5 minutes to prepare and only 5 minutes to cook
Serves 2
What you need:
4 medium slices wholemeal bread
½ teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
60g wafer thin smoked ham
25g low fat mature cheese, grated finely
1 egg (give it a beating)
3 tablespoons skimmed milk
Low fat cooking spray
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
What to do:
1. Spread two of the slices of bread thinly with the Dijon mustard, if you’re using it that is. Divide the ham and cheese between these slices and top with the remaining slices of bread. Basically, just make a normal ham and cheese. Cut each sandwich into two triangles and you’re finished step 1. Simple enough.
2. Beat the life out of the egg and mix it with the milk together in a shallow bowl and season with your salt and pepper. Dip the ham and cheese sandwiches in the egg mixture on both sides, until the mixture has been completely soaked up.
3. Heat a non-stick frying pan until hot and spray with the low fat cooking spray. Add the egg-dipped sambos to the pan and fry for 2 minutes on each side over a medium heat until golden brown and crisp. Serve and enjoy your low fat highly tasty snack.
