JOE Gets Ripped Blog: Week 6

Brian Maher managed to avoid indulging on both Pancake Tuesday and his birthday to stay on course to 'Getting Ripped'

JOE

Oh sh*t. It’s now half way through the challenge and that six weeks flew by, so it has kind of made me nervous for achieving the goal. I know I’ve only really made progress in the last two to three weeks as the first couple of weeks I was getting used to everything – the sessions, the diet and the routine.

I haven’t taken my measurements for a couple of weeks now, but I know I’m losing inches as the other day I had to make a new notch in my belt – deadly! My muscle development seems to be coming along as well with fairly noticeable changes in my arms, shoulders, chest and legs. I’m not too worried about the belly area as Dan mentioned to me a few times before he went away that he has some killer sessions coming my way to burn the fat and develop the muscle.

It has been a tough week to resist food temptations. A side from Pancake Tuesday it was also my birthday. So, I watched on as my co-workers tucked into the chocolate cake on my behalf and downed about 10 pancakes each covered in sugar. They did get me a bag of carrot sticks though, very thoughtful. I then explained that I could still have pancakes just not made the traditional way. I used eggs, a scoop of Optimum Nutrition Vanilla Whey Protein, some blue berries and a small bit of coconut milk, and it was delicious.

On Wednesday I had an awesome boxing session. It’s great to mix things up and also to release some aggression.

I promised Dan I’d have the belly gone by the time he gets back, so I’ve still a lot of work to do this coming week.
