King of the till: Teenager buys booze in six different shops with fake cartoon ID

A teenager in Nottinghamshire managed to purchase alcohol in six different shops with an ID that said he was 17 and had a picture of a cartoon character on it. You couldn’t make this sh*t up.

Let’s not get all holier than thou about this; plenty of you who are reading this article will have gone to fairly elaborate lengths to purchase alcohol before reaching the legal age, whether it was getting your older brother to do it for you or chancing your arm with some ridiculous ID you got off the internet.

However zany your scheme may have been, we’re pretty sure it has nothing on what one incredibly brazen youngster got up to in Nottinghamshire recently as part of an undercover operation carried out by the county council trading standards operation

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the teen in question, who was actually 18, purchased alcohol in 13 different shops, six of which accepted an ID that said he was 17 and had a picture of the cartoon character Bobby King from King of the Hill (see below).

The council have said that they will issue advice to all the retailers who wrongly served the volunteer and encourage them to adopt a Challenge 25 policy (if they look 25 or younger, ask for ID) when selling age-related products, but what advice you can give to somebody who accepts an ID with a picture of a cartoon character on it is beyond us.

Like we said earlier, you couldn’t make this sh*t up.
