If you’re looking to lose weight and not sure where to start, then HealthSmart camps have a solution for you

The summer holidays are here, and with the heat, the nice weather and the maybe the odd trip to the beach, you might be thinking about getting in shape a bit, but it can be a daunting task to know where to start or what to do first.

Thankfully, the lads at HealthSmart, Ireland’s only first four star fitness holiday camps, have got a plan to help you begin, or continue, your fitness journey. They adopt a holistic approach to weight loss and increased fitness and emphasise the psychology of weight loss in order to improve and change the mental mind-set of those struggling with their weight. HealthSmart’s uses qualified and passionate experts in the fields of psychology, nutrition and fitness to enable campers to introduce a new healthy lifestyle in order to maintain long term success.

With a mix of exercise, nutrition and fun you can be equipped with the tools to help you along the way to long-term weight loss and a balanced healthy lifestyle. The camps include diet and nutrition classes with practical cooking lessons and a range of activities and exercises designed to suit different fitness levels. The overall objective is to educate campers and equip them with the tools necessary to maintain a long term healthy balanced lifestyle and make sure you have more success than using a cyclical fad diet.

Commenting on the launch of HealthSmart, Carmel Farnan, (Psychotherapist) said, “Research shows that 90% of people who lose weight regain it, and that 95% of all diets fail. It’s little wonder then that so many dieters give up. They feel there’s no point in losing weight to put it back on again. So what’s the missing ingredient in dieting? It’s our thoughts. That’s where HealthSmart comes in, we offer a holistic approach to help people to maintain their weight loss for the long-term”.

HealthSmart Camps are focused on helping those suffering from obesity, and those who are carrying anything from six pounds or more over their healthy BMI who find it an insurmountable task to shift the final half stone. These healthy lifestyle breaks are available for three day weekend, five day and seven day stays. The expert team includes Aveen Bannon, dietician, Carmel Farnan, psychotherapist, Anthony Lynch, personal trainer from JOE’s mates over at Raw Condition Gym, and Fiona Marsh, co-owner.

Throughout their stay campers will enjoy delicious, nutritious and healthy balanced food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, which have been specially created to suit their requirements, as well as getting to grips with a whole series of exercises and routines that will have them pushing farther than they ever thought they could.

All of these activities take place in four star venues around the country. Participants stay in self-catering homes in luxurious resorts that have top class settings and facilities. Launch locations include Knightsbrook Hotel & Lodges in Trim, Co Meath, and Avon Rí, Co Wicklow. Camps are available from August 2013.

The HealthSmart camps also cater to men and women of all ages, with specialist camps are available for men and women only, or for those with high body mass index (BMI), as well as special clubs for parent and youths or fit pro camps for high intensity training. Participants will lose weight during their stay and, more importantly, discover a balanced and achievable road to weight loss success, so if you fancy taking the first healthy step, check out  the lads at www.healthsmart.ie.
