Time to get fit and learn how to kick some ass.

Straight Blast Gym Ireland have announced that they are opening a new location in Inchicore in Dublin later this month.

The state of the art gym is roughly 16,500 square feet, containing seven training areas, and it’s the only gym in Ireland to own a full size octagon for competitive and aspiring MMA fighters to train in.

A large selection of MMA and fitness classes will be hosted in the gym, as well as a private training room for one to one sessions with the coaches.

For those interested in fitness, there is a well supplied strength and conditioning area, as well as a sound proof private training room for the Vikingaþrek sessions, an Icelandic training concept combining kettlebells, combat, and body weight exercises.

To celebrate this news, SBG are welcoming people down for an open day on Sunday 22 September from 10am to 4pm.

Throughout the day various classes will be available for visitors to jump right into, with guidance from trained coaches. These classes include BJJ, Striking and Víkingaþrek for adults, teens striking (13-18) and for younger visiters, kid BJJ (ages 4-12).

To kick things off, the legendary Royce Gracie will be hosting a ladies’ self defence class from 12-1.30pm, with female members of the gym taking part, while also raising money for charity.

Any contributions on the day will be matched by one of the world’s largest fight promotions, Bellator, and donated to the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

Owner John Kavanagh spoke about the opening of the gym, saying: “It’s been incredible to see SBG grow from it’s humble beginnings to what it is now. I’m so proud of the team and all we’ve created so far and am looking forward to seeing all we’ll achieve in our new home in Inchicore.”
