WATCH: The Mountain from Game of Thrones breaks his own world record by deadlifting 472kg

The Mountain

Just watching him do it is enough to make us break into a sweat.

Anyone who has ever set eyes on Game of Thrones will know that Gregor Clegane, AKA The Mountain, is arguably most physically intimidating character (human character, at least) in the history of TV.

The nickname wasn’t given to him for no reason; instead, it is a testament to a level of physical conditioning that has made the man who plays him, Hafthor Bjornsson, into one of the strongest people on the planet.

At the weekend, he once again proved his strongman credentials by breaking his own world deadlift record at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic, when he lifted 472kg (approximately 1,041 lbs or a little under 75 stone) without the aid of a deadlift suit.

And, by the looks of it, it didn’t seem to cause him too much trouble either; sure there was a bit of a grimace on his face but no more than the average gym goer would have when pushing out their last rep.

Let’s just say we won’t be surprised if he breaks this record again in the near future.

And it wasn’t the only record Bjornsson broke either, with a video on his Instagram page showing him casually tossing a 56lb weight over a 20-foot bar with the ease of someone throwing a blade of grass into the air to check the direction of the wind.
