UK study finds that one in four people often go a whole day without brushing their teeth

We’re right to think that this is more than a little bit disgusting, right?

Oral hygiene isn’t something that pops into conversation on a regular basis but maybe it should more often after a survey in the UK revealed some very off-putting facts.

We would have assumed that everyone brushes their teeth at least twice a day, but it turns out that it’s not the case at all.

At least it’s not in the UK, where 25 per cent of people regularly go a whole day without brushing at all.

The survey, which was carried out by TePe (a company who produce oral health products) for World Oral Health Day, found that one quarter of more than 2,000 respondents regularly went a whole day without brushing their teeth.

A whole day.

15 per cent of those surveyed, meanwhile, revealed that they have been using the same toothbrush for a year despite the fact that dentists recommend that you do so every three to four months.

Four per cent of those surveyed admitted that their oral hygiene was used as an excuse not to kiss them and half revealed that they haven’t been to a dentist in the last six months.

While we’d like to think that our habits over here are better than across the pond, we fear that similar results would be unveiled if a similar survey was conducted in Ireland.

Look after those teeth lads; if we can’t convince you then maybe Gummy Joe can…
