Video: Arjen Robben is guilty of perhaps the worst dive ever seen

Forget a yellow card, Arjen Robben should have been tarred and feathered for an awful piece of simulation playing for Bayern Munich last night.

Forget a yellow card, Arjen Robben should have been tarred and feathered for an awful piece of simulation playing for Bayern Munich last night.

For a brief period during Munich’s clash with Bochum last night, Robben was literally the flying Dutchman as he took to the skies nearly five seconds after a mere semblance of a tackle from Marcel Maltritz occurred in the box.

Mercifully, the referee wasn’t fooled by Robben’s theatrics and he was yellow carded, an act that prompted a bewildered reaction from the balding ex-Chelsea man.

He apologised afterwards, but his comments suggested that he was right to dive and that the only thing he did wrong was fall at the wrong time.

“That was stupid,” he said.

“Perhaps it was a penalty, but then I should have fallen earlier. I saw that I could not get the ball. It was stupid. I must not do things like this – and I apologise.”

Honestly, it’s up there with the worst we’ve ever seen, but enough talk, check out Robben’s horrendous piece of simulation for yourself in the video above.
