10 of the most exciting reveals from the PlayStation Showcase event

God of War! Star Wars! WOLVERINE! (And seven more things to be excited about…)

PlayStation held a showcase event this week, getting players very excited about what they’ll be playing over the next few months and years. You can check out the entire, almost hour-long showcase right here, but we’ve gone through it all and picked out the 10 reveals, trailers, announcements and teasers that got us the most excited.

And so, in alphabetical order…

Alan Wake Remastered

Arriving on PlayStation for the first time ever, the long-rumoured remake of the 2010 horror classic is getting a graphical glow-up ahead of its arrival, and will be packaged with two story expansions when it arrives on 5 October this year.

Forspoken

One of the most beautiful looking games at the showcase – and one of those projects that makes you go “Ah, yes, THIS is what the PS5 can do” – this sci-fi adventure game features a woman torn from modern day New York and forced to explore the mysterious world of Athia. Due to arrive on the PS5 in Spring 2022.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

When a dangerous occultist releases all manner of evil spirits into Tokyo’s streets, it is up to you to try to defeat them and send them back to the hellscape they came from. A first-person supernatural shooter, it will arrive on PS5 in Spring 2022.

God of War Ragnarok

Finally confirmed to have that Ragnarok subtitle, we continue our journey with Kratos and his young son (the soon-to-be Loki) as they head towards an unavoidable battle with the Norse gods, with none other than Thor making an appearance this time around. Set to arrive some time in 2022.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Coming from the same folk behind 2020’s Marvel’s Avengers game (which… wasn’t great), this seems to be borrowing more from the gameplay behind action-adventure games like Uncharted or Tomb Raider. Which we can totally get on board with. Due to arrive on 26 October this year.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

A direct sequel to both 2018’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Miles Morales, it looks like the duo will be teaming up to take on both Venom (who is visually revealed here), and what sounds like Kraven The Hunter doing the voiceover. Won’t be arriving on PS5 until 2023.

Marvel’s Wolverine

The folks behind the Spider-Man game have also been given another iconic Marvel character to adapt into the world of video games. Not much to go on in the teaser, not even a release date, but still…. Wolverine!

Project Eve

Another jaw-droppingly beautiful game, this first proper look at this post-apocalyptic action-adventure showcases a lot of the enemy types you can expect to be battling, as well as a lot of the impressive weaponry you’ll be using to violently disperse them. No release date announced, which probably means Late 2022/Early 2023.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Our first look at the ground-up remake of the classic 2003 Star Wars RPG was light on information, but the teaser does reveal that it will be a PS5 exclusive.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the extremely underrated Uncharted: The Lost Legacy were both already stunningly beautiful games when they were released on the PS4, so this look at the PS5 remaster is just showing off… and we’re totally fine with that. The collection will arrive Spring 2022.
