games

Some huge games coming to PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Switch over the next 12 months.

As always, games are prone to schedule changes, so the below choices are based entirely on the information we had at the time of writing.

Plus, we’re sure there will be plenty of out-of-nowhere games that will completely blow us away, just like what happened in 2022.

Having said that, we’ve picked out 23 games currently reported to arrive some time in 2023 that we’re very excited to get our hands on, starting with…

FORSPOKEN – 24 Jan

An open-world adventure where the character (played by Charlie’s Angles and Resident Evil star Ella Balinska) can travel to anywhere, at any time, with a manner of movement that looks both fluid, specific and very, very fast.

Forspoken will be available on PS5 and PC.

DEAD SPACE (2023 REMAKE) – 27 Jan

The classic 2008 survival sci-fi horror game is getting a next-gen update, which will make all of those creepy spaceship scares feel even more realistic.

Dead Space will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

HOGWARTS LEGACY – 10 Feb

Set about 100 years before the events surrounding Harry Potter, you’ll play your own uniquely created character in the school for witchcraft and wizardry.

Hogwarts Legacy will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC at launch, PS4 and Xbox One in April, and Switch in July.

ATOMIC HEART – 21 Feb

A first-person shooter set within an alternative 1950s Russia where supercomputers helped to defeat the Nazis, only for those computers to then turn on their creators.

Atomic Heart will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.

PS VR2 – 22 Feb

Not a game, but a new, next-gen virtual reality headset that will have access to its own exclusive games, including Horizon: Call of the Mountain. There are also VR games coming set within the Resident Evil, Star Wars and The Walking Dead universes.

PSVR2 will be compatible exclusively with the PS5.

SKULL AND BONES – 9 Mar

Initially announced a full decade ago (!?!), an entire game based around the best part of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is finally almost upon us!

Skull and Bones will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR – 17 Mar

The sequel to the hit Fallen Order picks up five years after the events of that game, with Cal Kestis once again forced to do whatever he can to remain one of the few survivors of Order 66.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 (2023 REMAKE) – 24 Mar

A next-gen remake of 2005’s landmark action horror game will follow in the footsteps of the recently remade original Resi-trilogy.

Resident Evil 4 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PC.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM – 12 May

Six long years after Breath of the Wild, literally one of the best games of the last decade, and we’re finally getting the open-world Zelda sequel we’ve all been waiting for.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available on Switch.

SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE – 26 May

From the creators of the Batman: Arkham series, this sorta-sequel allows you to control Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot or King Shark to defeat the members of the Justice League who have been brainwashed by ultra-villain Brainiac.

FINAL FANTASY XVI – 22 Jun

It has also been seven years since the last main entry in the FF franchise, with this action RPG entry set within a world that is being destroyed by something known only as “the Blight”.

Final Fantasy XVI will be available on PS5 at launch, with other platforms getting access in December 2023.

ALAN WAKE II – TBD

The creators of this sequel to the 2010 original have said that the first was an action game with some horror in it, but the new game will be a purely survival horror.

Alan Wake II will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON – TBD

The first new entry in this franchise since 2013, why should you care about this mech-based vehicular combat game? Well, it also happens to be from the same folk who made Elden Ring…

AVATAR: FRONTIERS OF PANDORA – TBD

Telling a standalone story set within the world of the Avatar universe, you’ll head to a previously unseen part of Pandora to tackle the invading Earth army forces.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH – TBD

2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake wasn’t actually a remake of the classic 1997 game, but merely a remake of the first section of that game. Rebirth will take us beyond the events of Midgar.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is scheduled to arrive on PS5 only.

JUDAS – TBD

A first-person sci-fi shooter that happens to be the first game by famed developer Ken Levine since his legendary Bioshock Trilogy came to an end in 2014.

The sequel to both 2018’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Miles Morales will reportedly allow you to control both versions of the web-slinger, this time taking on Venom, who will be voiced by Candyman himself, Tony Todd.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available on PS5.

REDFALL – TBD

An open-world first-person shooter in which you control one of four characters trying to hold back hordes of vampires, from the folks behind the recent (and brilliant) Doom reboot games.

Redfall will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

SLITTERHEAD – TBD

Set within the slums on Hong Kong, this new horror game is directed by the guy behind the original Silent Hill games. So prepare yourself for some properly nightmarish imagery.

Slitterheard has yet to confirm which platforms it will debut on.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: HEART OF CHORNOBYL – TBD

The first game in the series since 2009, the game has been delayed due to the developers originally being based in the Ukraine, production on the first-person survival horror shooter is finally almost done.

S.T.AL.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

STARFIELD – TBD

The game’s synopsis has been shorthanded to “Skyrim in space”. This is going to be one of those games that will completely consume our day-to-day lives, we can tell.
