It looks like there is another Arkham game on the way

Batman returns?

It has been four years since Batman: Arkham Knight was released, completing one of the most perfect trilogy of games ever.

We say trilogy, because most people don’t include Batman: Arkham Origins in that series, as not only was it developed by a completely different company (WB Montreal, instead of Rocksteady Studios), but it also just… well, it just wasn’t as good as the other three.

The original, Batman: Arkham Aslyum, recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary and it still stands tall as one of the greatest video games of all time. And we don’t say that lightly!

So going back to that well, when it ended so well, is fairly ballsy, but it does look like that is what is happening.

First of all, WB Montreal tweeted in celebration of Batman Day over the weekend, what initially just looks like the Bat-Symbol being broadcast against the side of the skyscraper:

However, you can almost certainly notice that little visual glitches, which appear to be showing some insignia or symbols, which, if you look close enough, do bear more than a passing resemblance to an owl:

These are also similar to a symbol to a tweet sent out in December 2018 by Warner Bros. Montreal assistant producer Valerie Vezina, who kicked off her mysterious tweet with a helpful [Redacted]:

And as if that wasn’t enough, Batman comic book writer Scott Snyder also weighed in, giving the biggest and most obvious hint of all, before the tweet was deleted (image via IGN):

Snyder is best known for his run of comics under the Court Of Owls arc, which is where Batman fans were first introduced to the shadowy organisation that actually secretly runs all of Gotham and proved to be the Dark Knight’s biggest challenge in decades.

So… it does look like there is a new Arkham game on the way, based on the hugely popular Court Of Owls storyline, and that it has been in the works for quite some time and we’re finally getting some major hints about it.

There is a PlayStation State Of Play event set to take place on Tuesday 24 September, so there is a very good chance we’ll have more solid details before too long.
