Controversy surrounds new Avengers video game

The game is due to be released in a few weeks time.

While Marvel has completely dominated the film industry for the past four or five years, it really hasn’t done the same in the video game world.

And in fairness, it hasn’t tried to.

Small scale MCU games have been released exclusively on mobile phones, but none have come to a major console, until now.

However, the new Avengers came is currently surrounded in controversy, as Sony have recently confirmed that Spider-Man will only appear in the PlayStation version of the game.

The game (for the most part) centres around Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, Kamala Khan and Spider-Man, so Peter Parker only being included in the Sony version is inevitably going to cause issues.

Sony made this decision as it owns the rights to the Spider-Man character, and also owns PlayStation.

Many fans have voiced their frustration at this decision, and that is before the game has even been released.

Sony released a Spider-Man game exclusively to PlayStation a few years ago, and it was a massive success, with many calling it the game of the year in 2018.

It’s quite clear that the Avengers game won’t follow any story lines that appeared directly in the movies, but we’d imagine gamers and MCU fans alike will want to try it out.

Marvel’s Avengers will be released on 4 September.
