JOE Gaming Weekly – FIFA 23 will feature women’s club teams for the first time ever

Rory Cashin

The game will also apparently include “a new standard in realistic and immersive gameplay on the pitch”.

Welcome to JOE Gaming Weekly, your weekly round-up of all things gaming.

Or, specifically, the one big game you should play this week, the one big piece of gaming news you need to know about, and the one big deal available to purchase this week.

So, off we go!

GAME OF THE WEEK

Stray

Definitely one of the more original settings for a game we’ve heard in quite some time, you control a regular cat in a sort-of post-apocalyptic world, which is now filled with robots going about and living their day-to-day lives. Using platforms skills, puzzle solving and all of the abilities of a cat, you must find your way home as you adventure through this stunning beautiful game that feels like a mix of Cyberpunk 2077 and Inside.

Stray is available on PS5, PS4 and PC right now.

BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK

FIFA 23 will feature women’s club teams for the first time ever

EA Sports revealed the first trailer for the latest instalment in the massively popular FIFA series, with FIFA 23 bringing HyperMotion2 technology, which EA is calling “a new standard in realistic and immersive gameplay on the pitch”.

The game will also include women’s clubs teams for the first time ever, and post-launch, players will be able to experience two World Cups – the men’s FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar and FIFA Women’s 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand – at no extra cost.

FIFA 23 will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, Stadia and PC from Friday, 30 September.

DEAL OF THE WEEK

The Quarry

Yes, we only reviewed this interactive horror just a few weeks ago, but if you didn’t get it at launch, then you’ll be happy to hear that it is already on sale! The branching narrative horror is the spiritual successor to Until Dawn, and is an absolute must-play for fans of being very, very scared.

The Quarry is available on the PS Store, marked down from €74.99 to €50.24 for the PS5, and down from €69.99 to €46.89 for the PS4, until Wednesday, 3 August.
