JOE Gaming Weekly – The launch price of the next-gen version of GTAV is shockingly cheap

Rory Cashin

Of all the games that you might want to replay over and over again, we all know that this is definitely one of them.

Welcome to JOE Gaming Weekly, your weekly round-up of all things gaming.

Or, specifically, the one big game you should play this week, the one big piece of gaming news you need to know about, and the one big deal available to purchase this week.

So, off we go!

MUST PLAY OF THE WEEK

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok

Following in the DLC footsteps of Wraith of the Druids and The Siege of Paris, fans of the Norse mythology-set Assassin’s Creed game are about to get their third story expansion with Dawn of Ragnarok.

DOR allows players to travel to the dwarven realm of Svartalfheim, where Eivor must step back into the role of Odin to rescue Baldr from the fire giant Surtr.

Basically, it is more Valhalla, so if you love the game, you’ll also love this.

Dawn of Ragnarok will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia from Thursday, 10 March.

BIG NEWS OF THE WEEK

Next-gen GTAV prices and upgrade details revealed

Originally released in 2013 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will now be released on its third set of generational consoles, with Rockstar Games promising an upgraded visual mode and a number of new improvements and features.

You’ll also be able to carry across your progress from GTA V and GTA Online to your next-gen console.

But one thing you won’t be able to do is upgrade the game for free, though you can buy it brand new for a very cheap price for a limited time.

PS5 players can get it for €9.99 for the first three months, before it goes up to its regular price of €39.99, while Xbox Series X|S players can get it for €19.99 for the first three months, before it goes up to €39.99.

GTA Online will be free for PS5 players and €9.99 for Xbox Series X|S players at launch, before going up to €19.99 after three months.

GTAV and GTA Online will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S from Tuesday, 15 March.

DEAL OF THE WEEK

FIFA 22 – Ultimate Edition

Right now, the standard edition of FIFA 22 is €69.99 on the PS4 and €79.99 on the PS5, while the Ultimate Edition is cheaper on both consoles, and comes equipped with 4,600 FIFA Points, the in-game currency that can be used to purchase stuff through your campaign.

Essentially, if you haven’t already purchased FIFA 22, now would be the perfect time to do so.

FIFA 22 – Ultimate Edition is currently available on the PS Store for the PS5 and PS4, marked down from €99.99 to just €49.99 until Wednesday, 16 March.
